Program description

The Jose Fernandez Personal Assistant is a personal SMS line I, Jose Fernandez, operate on a dedicated Twilio phone number, separate from my personal phone. It handles conversational text messages on my behalf, and replies may be generated by an automated AI assistant.

Message samples

Messages identify the sender. Examples:

  • Reply to someone who texted in: “Hi, this is Jose Fernandez’s assistant replying on his behalf. [reply to your message] Reply STOP to stop all messages, HELP for help.”
  • Message I direct to a contact on my behalf: “Hi, this is the assistant for Jose Fernandez, reaching out on his behalf about [his request]. Reply STOP to stop all messages.”

Who messages come from and go to

Messages are sent from the assistant’s dedicated Twilio number. They go to me as the registered user of the line, to people who have texted the number and receive a reply, and occasionally to a business or personal contact I direct the assistant to reach on my behalf about my own request.

Opt-in

This is an inbound, conversational line. Most messages are replies to people who text first. I may also direct the assistant to contact a specific business or personal contact about my own matters; those are individually initiated by me and are not bulk or marketing messages.

End users opt in by texting the number first; by sending a message they consent to receive replies, which may be generated by an automated assistant. On first reply, recipients are informed that replies may be automated and can text STOP to opt out at any time, or HELP for more info. The owner has given direct consent as the registered user of the line.

Opting out and getting help

  • Text STOP to any message to stop all messages from this line. After STOP, no further messages will be sent, whether automated or sent by me.
